The roadside station Shimogou is along the national highway No. 289 “Kousi road” and is located at the highest (862m above sea level) place in Tohoku. A lot of photographers visit to take a picture of the superb view in a morning and a evening, because the view of the magnificent mountain range of Minamiaizu can be seen from here. This roadside station is one of the wooden roadside stations lying scattered in the Fukushima prefecture and there are Tsukiyama park and Wood deck terrace around the station. And the roadside station has the atmosphere that a driver and a weekender can relax a feeling slowly,so it is said that the roadside station is seemed to want to expressly and many times.
道の駅「しもごう」は国道289号「甲子道路」沿いにあり、東北で一番高い（標高862ｍ）ところにある道の駅です。
ここからは、南会津の雄大な山並みが眺望できるため、朝夕の絶景を撮影しに訪れるカメラマンも多いスポットです。
この道の駅は、県に散在する木造の道の駅の一つで、周りには築山公園とウッドデッキテラスがあります。
そして、ここにはドライバーや行楽客がゆっくりと気持ちよく寛げる雰囲気があり、何回も行きたい、わざわざ行きたい「道の駅」との評判になっています。
