-----------------------------
This cache is a series of several planned around the Didcot Ladygrove estate to replace an archived series.
Ladygrove used to be a marsh. In 1539 and 1597 it became a battleground as the lord of the local Manor tried to fence it off, removing the local people who traditionally farmed it in acre or half acre divisions. Many modern roads still follow lines built to access these smallholdings..
Nowadays the area is a fairly bland housing estate, albeit the powerlines from nearby Didcot Power Station meaning a "yellow brick road" of paths criss crosses the estate. This cache is situated on former fishing lakes which (as of May 2019) are closed due to blue-green algae depleting the oxygen and killing the fish. The lake still hosts a vocal and hungry community of ducks that are greatly appreciative of Geocachers bearings gifts of bread :)
