The (v.1) series took a serious hit from Hurricane Dorian; most containers were gone. Since the entire series had to be redone, I decided to release it as a new (v.2) series to entice cachers to revisit this beautiful headland hike.
This is one in a 6-cache hiking series along the headlands and cliffs of French River, one of Rootie’s favourite places to hike and take photographs.
Along the way, we often see fox, eagles, osprey and several cormorant rookeries along the majestic sandstone cliffs. Bring your camera!
From the parking lot at Yankee Hill Beach, the return hike is approximately 6 km and should take about 2+ hours. [You start near the French River Lighthouse and end near the Cape Tryon Lighthouse]. From the parking lot, work your way along the beach and up onto the headlands to begin your hike Follow the headlands – but be wary of the cliffs and undercut erosion and stay out of the adjacent fields.
Use caution during the Fall - this is a popular spot for goose hunting.
I assure you this will be one of the most scenic cache series you’ll encounter on the Island!
Attributes are an average for the series (excluding cache #1)
