Over the last 50 years, Milton Keynes has developed an excellent reputation for Public Art development, with over 220 Public Artworks across the city.
"Public Art in Milton Keynes is about inviting the vision, creativity, and skills of artists, to engage people freely with the place, in a well-considered way."
A quick short meet to introduce you to one of MK's sometimes forgotten pieces of artwork. The usual chatter and socialising are encouraged.
When: Monday 16th December 19:00 to 19:30
Where: Meet between the two artworks "The Conversation" and "The Meeting"
Who: Geocachers near and far, new and old, everyone is welcome!
Why: A series of events across Milton Keynes to showcase the public art, where many geocaches take inspiration from or are based upon.
The Conversation: Nicolas Moreton, 1995
Kilkenny black fossil limestone and bronze. The Conversation consists of two figures in conversation, raised from the ground on a plinth, away from the bustle of the people below. The plinth is their table, an intimate and private space elevated above the rest of the world.
The Meeting: Nicolas Moreton, 1995
Birds eye Derbyshire fossil limestone and bronze. The outer panels Dawn and Reflection shows a man and woman separately contemplating the day’s events. The Cup (middle panel) is described by the artist as showing ‘a man and woman sharing thoughts and wishes, symbolised by the sharing of a drink from the same cup.’
