Join us on February 1st, at 9:30 AM at the Montour Shelter in South Park as we celebrate Ice Cream for Breakfast day. This will be our 3rd year at the shelter on the first Saturday in February, while we enjoy some ice cream for breakfast. The event will run from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The previous two years, its been cold, some would say down right frigid. But we are geocachers, we play outside for our game, so the cold should not stop us from coming out in February. Plus, I know some of you will no doubt be taking the trek to Punxsutawney for Groundhog Day tomorrow morning.
Ice Cream for Breakfast was started by a mom and dad in upstate New York, to brighten up the dreary winter days for their kids. So, if the winter duldrums have gotten you down and you need some brighten up, come out to South Park and join us. The fine folks of PAGA has been celebrating this holiday for numerous years, with this event always taking place on the first Saturday of February.
We will provide some sort of ice cream dish to have for breakfast today. All you need to do is bring a bowl, a spoon, and yourself. If you would like to bring something else to share with the rest of us, please do so. You might want to note it in your log what your going to bring. As with the previous 2 years, we will have a fire roaring the fireplace to help keep us warm. If you would like to contribute some firewood for the fire, that would be great as well.
There is a small playground close to the shelter where we will be setup, so the little ones can have some place to play. The shelter sits on a hill as well, so if there is snow on the ground, bring a sled along to enjoy some winter fun. Geo-dogs are allowed, but they must be on leashes at all times.
If there has been any snow or ice, please park at the bottom, at the parking coordinates and walk up. I cannot guarantee that the road will be plowed or salted that leads up to the shelter.
