This collection of caches is based on the"Church Micro Series "in the U.K which has over 12,000 caches.

This series is on Historical Churches.

 

This is a simple offset multi.

Visit the Church to gain the info for the final co-ords to the cache.

It is a short distance away.

 

 

                                                                ST BARNABAS CHURCH

 

 

St Barnabas is an Anglican Church and the original Mission Church next to this building had it's foundation stone laid in 1905 and can be seen still today.

The "Warden's of St Barnabas Church had 1,000 pounds for a proposed new church to be erected next to the original mission hall.

It was to be constructed of red sandstone bricks with precast stone dressings to the windows which are filled with amber glass.

The Nave 25' wide by 64' long and is flanked by aisles .Seperated from the main building by arcades.

the Nave is covered with waggon roof of the Cornish or Devonshire type with richly carved bosses at the intersections of the ribs.

Seating capacity of 250 .

The Church belongs to the Parish of All Saints Hindmarsh.

The foundation stone was laid in May 1929 by Bishop Arthur Nutter Thomas.

Architect Dean Berry.

 

The Church was officially opened 28th September 1929.

In 2012 due to a decline in congregation numbers St Barnabas was on the brink of closure .

The Anglican Diocese made a bold decision to renovate and try to start a new ministry .

In 2014 a group of 12 adults and 3 children joined the 4 surviving members .

The Church today is growing in numbers.
