Geocachers spend a lot of time alone or in locations where we should be aware of surroundings yet are distracted while looking for the cache. Having a healthy amount of self-defense knowledge is a good idea for everyone. As geocachers, it can be extra important when you are in an unfamiliar location or in a situation by yourself. I'd bet nearly all of us have at least *one* story about a time when we needed to get out of a situation. With the help of some of my non-caching friends, we will teach some basic self-defense techniques that hopefully no one will ever have to use but could be handy for you while geocaching or elsewhere.
Location: Mellennia Martial Arts
Address: 2030 N 2nd St, Clinton
Date & Time: Sunday, January 26, 2020 1-2pm
Parking is available in the lot immediately adjacent to the academy's entrance as well as on the side streets. Please do not park on the other side of the concrete blocks in the other building's lot!
How should you dress? Dress comfortably because you will be moving! Pants or shorts are both fine depending on what makes you comfortable. Shoes are not allowed on the mats at the academy, but you may wear socks if you are not comfortable bare footed.
If there is time and interest at the end of the event, I bet there even could be some boards to break if you'd like to try!
