Welcome to King Mountain! This is the highest point on the Uwharrie Trail. Close to the cache site is a sign, making it a great photo opportunity. As for the cache, you're looking for a regular size clear plastic container. It's larger than the type I use for the Birkhead Hiking Challenge stages, but hidden the same way.
To get to King Mountain, start at the Moffitt Trailhead to the south (the coordinates are listed as an additional waypoint). The cache requires a 1.1 mile hike, which will likely take you twenty minutes. The first 0.6 miles is somewhat level, starting at an elevation of 750 feet in the parking area and descending to 700 feet before holding steady. At the 0.6 mile point, you will begin your ascent of King Mountain, going steadily from 700 feet to 1020 feet in elevation over half a mile, which is quite an easily ascent to make.
The trail is well-marked with white blaze the entire way. There is primitive camping available close to the cache site. The Uwharrie park ranger asks that you stick to the trail and consult a map because the Uwharrie Trail does go in and out of national forest land.
