Withnell Circular can be done in any order and the full route will take around 2 - 3 hours. It is approximately 5 miles long. The cache is a beaker style screw top container containing a log sheet in an inner container, a pencil and some swaps. The cache is located near to the MUGA (Multi-use Games Area) in Brinscall, before the start of Withnell Local Nature Reserve. Some stealth may be required.
Please note: Detailed logs aren't a requirement but are very welcome and much appreciated.
This cache replaces the previous Withnell circular #2 which had to be archived due to the Boardwalk going AWOL, normally the reason would be that the cache went AWOL.
An artists impression of the Boardwalk that was (or couldn't find a picture on t'interweb).
This path is now mostly gravel with no raised wooden decking section for the cache to hide under. It joins the lower path, which was originally part of the old railway track, and from there leads on to the nature reserve. The nature reserve is a former railway cutting of about 4.7 hectares located in Chorley. The one kilometre long site links the village of Withnell with Abbey Village. It forms an important wildlife corridor between the surrounding countryside and the West Pennine Moors.
