The Jabberwock often cycled from Trail to Fruitvale then over the Bombi Summit to Castlegar and back to Trail as a long training ride when he was competing. One year, his brother came to visit from Vancouver and suggested they make that ride longer by continuing up to Nancy Greene Lake from Castlegar then over to Rossland and back down to Trail instead of riding straight back home from Castlegar; that way, it would be a two summit ride instead of one. Great idea! Well, the ride up the Bombi from the Fruitvale side may be steeper in places but the grade changes up quite a bit so it's an interesting climb, but the ride from Castlegar up to Nancy Greene Lake has the same grade for a long, long time, with no change so it gets to be quite tedious spinning the same gear at the same cadence for several kilometers. So, it was at this little pullout along the highway here that the Jabb's brother said, "Let's take a break here", so the Jabb thought this would be a great spot for a "find a cache" break, too.
