Shannon Pot
Shannon Pot or Legnashinna (from Irish: Lag na Sionna, meaning "hollow of the Shannon")
is a pool in the karst landscape near Cuilgagh mountain in county Cavan.
It is the traditional source of the river Shannon, the longest river in Ireland.
(from wikipedia)
The Shannon divides the west of Ireland (principally the province of Connacht) from the east and south (Leinster and most of Munster). County Clare, being west of the Shannon but part of the province of Munster, is the major exception. The river represents a major physical barrier between east and west, with fewer than thirty-five crossing-points between Limerick city in the south and the village of Dowra in the north.

I was surprised to see that there wasn't a cache here already so, on New Years Eve on my way home from a caching day in Sligo I decided to call and hide one. Please note that the gates to the site are open from 9am to 9pm hence I have added the not 24/7 attribute. It may still be possible to access the site on foot outside these times as there is good parking space at the lane end. The facilities at the site include pic-nic tables and a childrens play area. Please be discreet when looking for the cache which is not placed near the source.
