Geocache Description:

These Lamp Standards originally stood either side of the entrance to The Princesses' Theatre, at Waterside in Crayford.

The Braddon family, who relocated their business from Waterside to Bourne Road in 1938, rescued the lamp standards when the Theatre, which by then had become a cinema, was demolished C.1960. The Scottish Ironwork Foundation have confirmed manufacture was by Walter Macfarlane & Co. Saracen Iron Foundry at Glasgow. The design is listed in the 6th edition catalogue and dates to C.1880's.

The Lamp Posts were repainted to the existing scheme sometime during the 1960's so as to highlight the detail. They are the only ones of their type known to exist and one of the few remnants to have survived from the Theatre. The present business is proud to be custodians to part of Crayford's heritage.
