We have officially made this event the start of the Geochums Half Year Travel Bug Race Redux. If you would like to join in the fun, get a travel bug tag, attach it to the item of your choice and log it into this event. A yet-to-be-determined prize will be awarded to the winner in July. Geochums 2018 Half Year Travel Bug Race rules: 1. The race will take place from January 1, 2018 to July 1, 2018. 2. Only "Placed it in" logs will be eligible as far as counting mileage. 3. "Took it to" (dips) logs do not count toward mileage. 4. If a cacher dips the bug into numerous caches along the way, only the final "Placed it in" mileage counts for the race. 5. A cacher can only participate in one "Placed it in" drop. Mileage for any subsequent "Placed it in" drops will not count for the race. That cacher can certainly move the bug again, but no mileage counts after the first drop. 6. The travel bug owner themselves can move their own bug, but none of that mileage counts for the race. 7. 20 miles extra are added for each picture posted to the travel bug's page - only one photo per cacher counts. (bug owner's photos do not count). 8. 10 miles will be deducted for every discovery of your travel bug. Each contestant will be responsible for keeping track of their mileage and post progress from time to time on the pinned thread in the Geochums facebook group. Non-facebook users can participate, but we ask that they send us their progress from time to time via email. Or, better yet, join facebook - all the cool kids are doing it!
