For those of you who have found other caches in Mt.Barker by myself and Earthlight you will know a little about our family ancestral history.
This cache is to give you a little more insight into the early history of Mt. Barker that has made it into the thriving city it is today .
This cache has 3 stages to it .
At the first 2 stages you gather the information required to reach the final stage .
Wp1 Harrowfields Cottage(used to be)
This cottage was built in 1857 and is the oldest brick building in Mt. Barker
When this house was built it caused quite a sensation ,everyone from far and wide came to inspect it. ..What was it's attraction you may ask?-Why,The new roof was made of galvanised iron not corrugated as we have today,quite a new idea back then .The roof is still in use today .
It is known for its quaint chimneys and also the site of the 1st petrol bowser.

Little Hampton Brickworks
The clay soil in the vicinity is especially suitable for the manufacture of fire bricks

A man by the name of Hombin began the first bricklayers near the Little Hampton railway station .This is now the Little Hampton Brick Co.
Your co ords will bring you to a seat at the Little Hampton Brickworks .Take a seat and observe your surroundings .
B- On the back rest of the seat how many bricks make up the top row divide by 2 =
C- Count the number of larger rectangular shape bricks on the back rest
