Cache #91
A short little multi to show some of the features of Albury and a little bit history at the end of Dean Street. Wander through the Botanic Gardens or take a steep stroll up to the Monument to enjoy the views.
The starting point is one of the many NBN boxes in town that have been highlighted with interesting photographs. The more you wander around, the more there are - I have intended to set up a multi with these as the source of info but just haven't got around to it - one for 2020 maybe! At the starting point you will see a box with a photograph of a Tiger Moth. On one side is a string of text - you need to find the two missing numbers:
2ALB-03-αβ-FNO-001
Just inserting a space!
Wander east along Dean Street to WP1 and look for the plaque about the Dean Street Bridge. Below the main plaque is an engraved name "T.H.Bartleson". The number of letters in his occupation = γ
The footpath was added in 192δ
The southern section of the bridge was built in 188ε
Cross the road and look at the box that controls the traffic lights. Not certain if this was a response to the NBN boxes but these have also appeared in the last year and have some amazing images. Again a multi is planned but not yet established. Looking at this one the numbers can be determined by:
The last digit of the first row = ζ
The last digit of the first row plus the first digit of the last row = η
South - 36° αβ.γδε
East – 146° ζβ.ηβε
The cache is a magnetic micro hidden in a standard way - you will need to bring your own writing implement. Though it is sheltered it can be a busy location so stealth may be necessary.
NEW CACHE NOTES 2024
Where the seat once was (GZ) take two steps to your left (towards The Monument on the hill) and cache is one edge of garden bed. No need to enter the garden here (see hint for more details).
Checksum S = 32 E = 33
Enjoy
