In the past, the city central of Guangzhou was in the area of Yuexiu and Xiguan, and the old Guangzhou called the area of Haizhu district as "Henan", that is, the south side of the river, as for the corresponding "Hebei", it was seldom mentioned, because this is the real Guangzhou. There are only two bridges connecting Henan and the city central: Haizhu Bridge and Renmin Bridge, and the traffic across the river is very inconvenient in many places, so the ferry is also an important means of transport for the public.
There are many ferry terminals along the northern and southern shores of the Pearl River, but now that road and rail transportation are more convenient, many ferry routes have been discontinued and some terminals have been closed. The Tianzi Wharf is one of the important ferry terminals in the past, just near the bision cache, where swimming is not allowed. Although the ferry routes are less, but the Tianzhi Wharf transformed into serving tourists for Pearl River day and night tour, is still very busy.
The name of Tianzi Wharf comes from its history: in the Qing Dynasty it was dedicated to welcoming officials, and the Jie Guan Ting (Receiving Officials Pavilion) to the north of Tianzi Pier was the site of the ceremony to greet officials after they disembarked. Nowadays, an alley in South Beijing Road is still named after the Jie Guan Ting, which has another cache GC8HGK7.
