TV Test Cards
Many years ago, as a TV Repairman, I used Test Cards to check and align the cathode ray tubes (CRTs) within old TVs and computer monitors.
Every part of the Test Card had a specific purpose.
For example, the white mesh on the black background (white mesh on grey in the Test Card picture shown below) was to check the accuracy of the static and dynamic convergence of the red, green, and blue electron guns.
Of course, with modern flat screen TVs, the use of electron guns has long gone.
Today, I guess Test Cards are only used to adjust the brightness, contrast, colour, height, and width of the viewed screen.
But please tell me if you know otherwise.

Of course, some Test Cards can be used as the basis for finding a geocache.

If you want to know more about Test Cards then I suggest that you read 'A Very Concise History of Test Cards' by Frank Mitchell. Here: http://www.testcardcircle.org.uk/tchistory.html
