Geocache Description:

(Updated 5/25/2024) This a a geocache placed for anyone to find, but primarily for any Troop 209 scouts that are in the process of earning the Geocaching Merit Badge. In terms of the the forest location and type, this cache is in a bottomland/wetland floodplain of the Beaver Creek.  It is a nice but somewhat wet hike through a nice mixed bottomland tract consiting of trees such as swamp chestnut oak, white oak, willow oak, yellow poplar and red maple.  In the upland drier areas you will see loblolly and shortleaf pine that are succeeding to mixed hardwoods primarly due to the absence of fire. You will start at the trailhead near the parking lot, and hike on the pine loop trail and continure to the fern loop trail.  The cache is 25 feet off the NW side of the trail in a small mason glass jar.
