Geocache Description:

Cache is hidden along a disabled rail line. Make sure you pull well off the paved road when you park your vehicle and I would not recommend trying to drive on this trail with your vehicle as it doesn't have enough room for two vehicles to pass each other and there seems to be some metal fragments sticking up along the trail. It should be a nice easy hike through the forest common to the east side of Lake Winnipeg. Other than the first cache, all the caches are winter friendly. No FTF Certificate, please bring your own writing tool.

During the hunting season, Sept 1st - Nov 30th I would recommend that you wear bright colours or blaze orange, just in case there are big game or upland hunters around.

For two years, we had a pair of pileated woodpeckers visit our yard almost daily.  We had two dying elm trees, and it seemed there were a lot of bugs underneath the bark, which the pileated woodpeckers enjoyed.  It was amazing to see the bark flying as they were pecking and chiseling out distinctive oval-shaped cavities in the trunks of our trees.  And did you know that it's bill becomes shorter as the bird ages????
