This is a puzzle cache. The cache is not at the posted coordinates. To find the cache, you have to solve the puzzle below.
There are photos of nine places in the world that we have visited, shown below. Larger images have been uploaded to the gallery. Unfortunately most of the visits were before we started geocaching, and one was before geocaching even started. In order to get the coordinates for the cache, you need to determine the approximate coordinates of each of these locations. You will need to determine the coordinates within the nearest 1 minute of latitude and longitude. The distance in kilometers will depend on latitude, but at N 48 degrees 1 minute = 1.8 km in latitude, and 1.2 km in longitude. Most of the locations should be recognizeable to everyone, but a couple may take some searching. Ask for a hint if you have too much trouble with any of the images. Pictures are in the following countries, listed alphabetically. Australia, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Nepal, Peru, Russia, and Thailand.
For each photo, the coordinates are to be expressed in the normal terminology, e.g. N 12 34.567 W 123 45.678, where of course N could be S or W could be E. The task at hand is to determine the first four digits of the latitude and the first five digits of longitude for the feature depicted in each photo. But it is only the fourth digit for latitude, fifth digit for longitude, needed to get the coordinates. The decimal minutes are provided below to eliminate some uncertainty.
