Welcome to Quarry Woods (Quarrelwood), a place with amazing history – dating back to a time before even Dinosaurs. The woods contain many paths and tracks shared by families, runners, orienteerers, walkers, dogs and cyclists. The Oakwood Geo-trail meanders through woodland of Specific Scientific Interest (natural oakwood), owned and maintained by Moray Council. Park in the Brumley Brae Car Park as this is a circular route. In parts we follow the old Quarrelwoods Ancestor’s Time Trail opened in 2002.

OAKWOOD GEO-TRAIL:
On exiting the car park, DO NOT follow the main trail, turn left and follow the winding trail. This will take you to the “modern henge”. Why not stop and have a look? Follow the path taking you towards the houses. Carefully descend the steps and turn LEFT at the bottom. Continue along this path until you reach a cross point. Turn RIGHT along the pathway along the fence line on your RHS. At the corner take the footpath behind the houses.
