Geocache Description:

Where's First Ave was a question I asked a friend many years ago. His response was "it was washed away" I didn't give it much thought until recently when I decided to do a cache in this area. I came across a map from 1886 which shows that First Ave was never on the water front. First Ave was actually in a different location meeting up with Fifth Ave and is now called is North Quay. The map shows that in 1886 The Esplanade ran along the western side of the water front around in front of Second Ave meeting up with Sixth Ave which is now called Fortune St. The location of the cache is in a beautiful part of Scarborough. It is a very busy location as there is a playground located close by, BBQs and Tables and Bench seats. While you are here, make you sure you take in the views of across the water. On a clear day you can see Moreton Is, Bribie Is, Beachmere and also the Glass house mountains. You will soon understand why this is one of my favourite spots. As this a busy spot, be careful of muggles. Enjoy the cache.
