This is a little green space that is the epitome of a wilderness in suburbia. Xendochium is a place for all. It receives and treats guests and strangers in a warm, friendly, generous way.
The original cache (GC3FVHW) went missing in early 2020, and the container was pretty unique. The hide had 78 Favorites in 236 finds, making it one of the top 200 Favorited caches in BC. The container was so unique that I could not see replacing it under the same cache listing - the replacement is significantly different, but only a few meters away, and is still what I think of as a clever hide.
This conservation area, located at Gilmore Way and Sanderson Way, preserves some of the original natural setting of the Discovery Place high-technology complex site. Burnaby City Council approved the original Discovery Parks Community Plan in 1980, establishing a site intended to accommodate future development sites for advanced scientific and technological research activities. Through the rezoning process, some of the site was preserved as public conservation area for your enjoyment.
The Electronic Arts building uses green roof technology resulting in protection and longer material lifespan of the roof, savings on energy heating and cooling costs, and insulation to absorb, reflect or deflect sound waves. The Knowledge Network is BC's public educational broadcaster, and bounds the eastern side of the conservation area. The nearby Schneider Electric facility is dedicated to the design and marketing of Solar renewable energies products. Kodak, Burnaby General Hospital, Telus and the British Columbia Institute of Technology are also close neighbours to this conservation area.
