Geocache Description:

In the Francis King Park there is a walking trail loop that is hard packed and wheelchair accessible. The trail is called the Elsie King trail and is about 800 meters long. It starts and ends at the main parking lot. The trail takes you through a natural section of the park and is a popular place to hike.

Although the trail and the locations to gather the information on the final is wheelchair accessible, the final is not wheelchair accessible. This was due to proximity issues to existing cache locations.

There are 10 stages that you must find to gather the information required to determine where the final location is (don't let the 10-stages intimidate you, it's an easy walk and the info is quick to gather). In the final location you will find a medium Lock & Lock container that contains the log book.

I hope you enjoy this walk and take time to read the information signs and enjoy the natural beauty of this park.

The way-points for the locations you need to visit are included in this page under additional way-points.

Here is the information you need to gather:

Virtual Stage 01: On the Caution sign (below the Park regulation sign) how many letters are there in the item that is slippery when frosty or wet? Call this "C"

Virtual Stage 02: On the Nurse Stumps sign, after the naturalist smiled, how many tests did he ask to be done? Call this "D"

Virtual Stage 03: On the Forest layers sign, how many layers are shown? Call this "I”

Virtual Stage 04: On the plaque on the bench, what is the last digit of year Dorothy died? Call this "J"

Virtual Stage 05: How many interpretive signs are at this location? Call this "F"

Virtual Stage 06: On the Ant City sign, how many photos are there on the 3 panels? Call this "E"

Virtual Stage 07: Time to sit and take a small break. How many benches are there at the Percy Dumbleton rest stop? Call this "A"

Virtual Stage 08: On the Forest Fires sign, how many trees are drawn in the bottom left corner drawing? Call this "G"

Virtual Stage 09: On the Mysterious Doorway sign, how many square/rectangular pictures are there? Call this "H"

Virtual Stage 10: How many horizontal boards (on the seat and back) are there on the bench at this location? Call this "B"

The final is located at N48 AB.CDE   W123 FG.HIJ

This cache is hidden as part of HAG XVI

What is HAG XVI? Well it's the 16th HAG event.

What is a HAG Event

HAG stands for Hide and Go cache, and this year is the 16th annual Vancouver Island HAG event. It goes like this:

Local cachers spend the Winter hiding caches for the HAG, these are held back by the reviewers until the first Saturday in February (February 1st this year) and then they're all published at once (super exciting to have anywhere from 100 to 600 local caches appear in your email all at once!).

We then of course have a wonderful time hunting the caches, and we wrap it all up with a big gathering at the 6 Mile pub (kids welcome) on the first Saturday in March; that's our chance to meet old and new friends, share our caching adventures, and distribute a bunch of silly trophies.

If you want to read all about it you can go to http://hagcaching.cachemania.ca/

Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about this, or indeed anything else caching related.

Cheers, and happy caching.

Congratulations to islandfinders for being First to Find
