Just more than a year since visiting Russian Ridge and placing the Down, Down, Down cache, I was back on another clear, chilly winter day for long loop hike. Like last time, I again went go too far northwest on Ridge Trail thinking I could make a loop down to Alder Springs trail towards the end of Ridge Trail. Last time I chanced taking the forbidden private road down to RR05 at the west end of Alder Springs Trail, but this time I doubled back on Ridge Trail. I saw from the satellite view that there was a fire break down to Alder Springs Trail before getting to Hawk Ridge Trail, so decided to try the fire break down instead of revisiting Hawk Ridge Trail. If you like steep, you'll like this fire break path!
Close to the bottom, I noticed a game/side trail going towards some trees so figured I'd put a cache there to entice people to try the fire break route. You're looking for one of my standard camoed soda bottle preform hangers. Bring your own writing instrument.
