Geocache Description:

11 October 2020, 15:30 - 18:00

Come visit and help us celebrate 20 years of Geocaching in the small village of Baddeck, Nova Scotia

Welcome to the village of Baddeck…stay a while

Cead Mile Failte

Baddeck is situated in the heart of Cape Breton Island, considered to be the beginning and end of the world famous Cabot Trail.  Stretching along the shores of the beautiful Bras d'Or Lake, Baddeck is a bustling village that maintains its essence as a quaint community...

Event will run all day, no sign in required in the morning, the viewing of poker hands will start at 16:45 hours at the event posting. The intent is for people to decide what they wish to do for the day, or for the weekend.   This weekend is usually one of the best for fall foliage. A fun poker run card game, five caches with cards, find the cache , take a card, but do not open till 4:45 PM.  You can grab them anytime during the day, but have to attend sign-inthe Event to be qualified for the Poker Game. Highest poker hand wins, Jokers Wild. One card per geocacher or team.  Also a TB/Geocoin ( unactivated ) kitty will be available to join befor your hand is tabulated by officals, high hand wins all,  this is not mandatory and this is not a race.  Hope to have a new Multicache, Puzzle and a Letterbox, Regular, WhereIGo for these caches, with a possible morning CITO Event. There are earthcaches and a virtual ( Sydney ) caches within driving distance.  There is now an active Lab Adventure for your enjoyment.

Hopefull some new caches will placed on the trails to the Uisge Ban Falls.  Another cache for the brave or fanatic, is Pushkin's Bald Mountain Summit, GC3N0CG, do not attempt alone, please.  There are other points of interest to explore for families or nongeocaching family members, like museums or Parks Canada Fortress of Louisbourg national Historic Society (has caches on site).  Make it a weekend getaway.

The area is a tourist haunt usually, but this year things have slowed down considerably.  Anyone wishing to stay overnight ( motel/camping) will be required to make their own resverations. Perhaps after the event, groups of folks might want to enjoy a meal at one of the local establishments.

This page will be updated as the Event is approved and more information becomes available.  This early release is to get you thinking.

There will be a log book to sign ( not required by Groundspeak ) so we can keep track of all cachers  in the event someone comes down with the China Virus.

To protect yourself and others you need to:

  • Stay 2 metres (6 feet) away from other people as much as possible.
  • Bring a mask.
  • Bring hand sanitizer if possible.
  • Event is dependent on Nova Scotia Health Advisories.
