Geocache Description:

08 May 2020, 10:30 - 12:30

Visitor Centre

Friday(Bank Holiday)8th May 2020

 TIME - 10.30AM -12.30PM

The centre serves Tea, Coffee and cold drinks, along with sections of cakes ect. There are two large play areas for the children to enjoy, within sight of the centre.

Dogs are welcome as theres a large outdoor seating area.

Why not pop along for the usual geo chat, and put some faces to those names you read on the logs.

The site was once a busy colliery, has now been transformed into a 240 acre country park that boasts stunning views over the surrounding area, along with space for all to enjoy the great outdoors.

There are a series of trails to allow you to get around the park easily. They are graded for length and difficulty so you can take anything from a quick stroll with a pushchair to a strenuous workout:

  • Top Hard - 2.8km (1.75 miles) long with some steep inclines
  • High Hazles - 1.4km (0.9 miles) with gentle slopes suitable for wheelchair users
  • Main Bright - 2.7km (1.7 miles) of mainly easy paths but with a sharp slope at one point
  • Low Hazles - at 5.7km (3.5 miles) it's the longest route with several steep parts
