On the 29th of December 2011, my sister and I were sitting around, wallowing in some post-Christmas lethargy, when she suddenly said "why don't we go Geocaching?" I had heard of Geocaching, but had written it off as a bit of a weird nerdy pursuit and frankly I already had enough of those. But with nothing else going on we wandered out to this little park where she very generously let me make my first find. I was instantly hooked. "Where's the next one?!"
10 years later I have over 5000 finds in 11 countries, with countless memorable adventures along the way. I've made lots of friends, attended many events, and really enjoyed challenging and being challenged by my fellow finders and COs. Geocaching really is so much more than just finding Sistema boxes under hedges, and I genuinely feel my life has been enriched by it.
So, I couldn't think of a more fitting occasion to publish my Community Celebration event, than 10 years on from that fateful day. Feel free to join me at the site of my first find, a decade on!
