Come celebrate 20 years of geocaching at an epic event filled with good friends, games within games, and prizes. This is…
Any geocacher may attend this event and socialize with other geocachers at Rye & Thyme. You do not have to compete in The BarterDash game to claim your Community Celebration smiley. The event will be held in a private room in the basement "Draught Cellar." You can enter directly down a few stairs from the parking area — no need to go to the front of the building.
When logging your Will Attend, please note how many people are coming. I need to provide the restaurant with the number of attendees so they are staffed appropriately.
The event starts at 5 o’clock with contestants in The BarterDash getting the playing cards they've collected through out the day verified. Bring all your card envelopes to the judges table. A judge will verify your envelopes against your punch card, open each envelope, and mark each of your cards as “verified”.
Once you have verified cards, it’s time to trade! Talk to other teams, form alliances, trade information and cards… whatever it takes to make your best hand.
At 6 o’clock, you will need to turn in your final hand to the judges. Place the cards you want to be scored in the large envelope supplied at the beginning of The BarterDash event. Make sure your team name is on the outside!
Now is the time to relax! Rye & Thyme has a great pub menu with dozens of beers on tap. Each attendee is responsible for their own bill. No purchase is necessary to attend.
At 6:15, the list of rules will be announced. Then, a judge will open each envelope and score each hand. Scores will be available in real-time in the online tool at https://www.thebarterdash.com and possibly projected at the event. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team and door prizes will be drawn for all attendees.
I hope to see you there!
The BarterDash game begins at 10AM. You must attend the kickoff event to participate in the game. You can learn more and sign up at:
