This is a Geocache at the entrance of Florence power response site.
The site converts natural gas and coalmines gas in to electrical power, this power is exported to the National Grid.
Currently the site produces around 1400Kw’s of power, from natural gas, on a power response setup, this can run 24 hours a day, 7 day a week, 365 days a year. That is enough power to run 32,500, 40W light bulbs.
As you stand at the cache site the only evidence of this is the 2 exhaust stacks that can be seen above the trees during late autumn through to early spring.
The cache container is a magnetic micro and only contains a log book so please bring a scribing tool, pen or pencil with you. It can be found just off the road and parking is available in the gate way. 24hour access is required to the site, this is monitored by CCTV. The site owners are aware of the cache and as long as you’re not parked for a long time you will not be disturbed.
