Geocache Description:

When I was a kid in school I loved Science but I was'nt the Brightest Bulb, I remember my 7TH Grade teacher asked us what is Dinner Plate Geography and I proudly said Baked Alaska, well thats not right but the Teacher had a good Laugh. So what is the Diffrence Beteween them ?

The main difference between geology and geography is that geology studies the structure and formation of earth whereas geography deals with the topography of Earth. Geology is an Earth science which studies the physical structure and substance of Earth; it also studies the dynamic and physical history of the Earth, and the physical and biological processes that create and act on them.

This is an awesome area of exposed Rock with plenty of areas to climb, crawl, squeeze ,play ,and explore, this is one of the largest and most Impressive displays in the area.

GLACIAL TIMELINE
The last glacial advance in this area, known as the Wisconsin Glaciation, occurred approximately 85,000 to 11,000 years ago. Are these Rocks Glacial Erratic's, I dont believe they are.

The Blue Trail comes and weaves it's way thru this Rocky area and even includes Ladders to climb up and around the rocky Cliff's and Caves. Upon closer inspection you can see these are 1 of the following 3 Types of Rocks igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. <P>

Igneous is formed by the cooling of Lava or Magma.

Sedimentary Rock is formed by the solidifaction of sedament or other rocks glueing themselves together.

MetaMorphic Rock is rock that was changed thru a process of High heat or massive pressure or both.

Look at the rocks as you climb around and thru the Crevices and inspect the Cracks ,I'm Sure you'll agree this is an oustanding display of Sedimentary Rock Outcropping's

On your way to this display of Rocks you Jumped ,Stepped and walked over Bolders that broke free and scattered the area.

Was This caused by Weathering ?

WEATHERING

Weathering is the breaking down of rock into smaller fragments. All rock weathers over time. Grains of sediment fall out. Cracks develop on the surface and deep inside weathering causes rocks to fracture, buckle, and crumble into soil and sediment. There are two types of weathering - Mechanical, or Physical and chemical.

Mechanica Or Physical weathering breaks apart rocks without changing their chemical composition. Each fragment and particle weathered away by a mechanical process retains the same characteristics as the original rock. Mechanical weathering can be caused by growing plants, expanding ice,and expansion and contraction with heating and cooling and Plants, animals and man. These physical processes such as a tree or bush growing in a Crack can create enough force to break rocks into smaller pieces.

Chemical weathering occurs when water, air, and other substances react with the minerals in rock. In chemical weathering, the composition of the rock changes, involving the effect of chemicals in the atmosphere directly or chemicals that are produced biologically causing breaking of minerals, rock and soil. After breaking of the materials that are left behind, they combine with materials of organic nature to create soil.

This is a fun place to explore and climb around be careful , there is a Multi cache here that will have you also Climbing up and down and all around GC8H00R so make sure you Grab that while exploring.

The cache is hidden on State Game Lands, and all Game Commission regulations apply. You are required to wear orange during prime hunting seasons.”

DO NOT POST ANSWERS ON YOUR LOG EVEN THOU THEY ARE EASILY FOUND IN THE DESCRIPTION PLEASE SEND ME THE ANSWERS!!

1. Whats the difference between geology and geography ?

 2. What was the Last Glacial advance here called and how long ago ?

3.What type of rock is this , igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic ?

4. How does it feel and what color does it appear to be ?

5. Do you see any signs of Weathering , what type ?
