Geocache Description:

The IHP series of caches by RSAKVT had 100 caches in it. The 99th, formerly in this spot, was damaged and archived.

But the number 99 is far too important to be vacated:

  • 99 was the uniform number of Wayne Gretzky. I mean, the guy's nickname was "The Great One." Obviously that extends to his number too.
  • 99 is the score you got in school when you aced a test, except you put one decimal point in the wrong place or something. It's like the beauty mark of test scores.
  • The song is called 99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall. It had to be 99. They didn't start with one hundred, even though that fits in the meter.
  • "The 99 percent" is what Vermont's most nationally prominent politician, Bernie Sanders, loves to talk about.
  • Interstate 99 is the one road in the United States Interstate Highway System that openly flouts the system's numbering convention, which is otherwise orderly from south to north and from west to east. Why did I-99 break the rules? Because it was built due to the patronage of US Representative Bud Shuster, who wanted it built for his Pennsylvania district and actually wrote the whole project -- including its number -- into law. It's odious pork barrel politics, yes, but I'll give him this: he chose the coolest number.
  • 99 was the model name of my favorite car, the Saab 99.

So yeah, it's a great number. Here it is again, IHP #99, ready to be found.

Parking may be somewhat difficult, especially in winter. So even though it's a quick park and grab, use caution.

(For anyone who is working on their 251+4 Challenge, this is a winter-friendly option that counts for the town of Wells. Good luck!)
