Geocache Description:

The Cache Is Not At The Posted Coordinates

The Rakshasas are evil spirits in Hindu mythology with magical and shape-shifting abilities. The Ramayana states that they were created from the foot of Brahma to protect the primeval waters. The demon, Ravana, was their king.

The Rakshasas were believed to be basically human, but they are tall, towering over ordinary men and women, and their limbs are twice as thick as a man’s. A set of curved fangs curl from the corners of their lips; wicked claws sprout from their fingers and toes, and two bull-like horns grow from their heads. Average Rakshasas have mottled skin, dark hair, and piggish eyes, but more powerful beasts have glowing eyes and fiery manes. The strongest warlords can have extra heads and arms. They were given many different names such as cannibals, biters, night-stalkers, vampires, dark-faces and many more.

As skilled shapeshifters capable of changing their look at will and any moment, the Rakshasas were masters of deception. Rakshasas have the power to change their shape at will and appear as animals, as monsters and were even able to look beautifull (especially female Rakshasas, called Rakshasis, could shapeshift into beautiful women) to satisfy their plans of deceiving humans.

Their history, emphasizes all the negative qualities of the Rakshasas as evil demons, which can also incarnate in human bodies. Among many Hindu, it is strictly forbidden to utter the name ‘rakshasa’ because it may provoke an evil spirit.

Their look was considered intimidating, and so were awful sounds they made. The Rakshasas dwelled in abandoned trees, forgotten caves, and distant mountain slopes. Their favorite time of activity was night. It is believed that an exorcism, a difficult and dangerous part of magic, can kill the Rakshasas; also, extended exposure to sunlight and burning the creature to ash can be another effective way to get rid of it.
