Geocache Description:

02 February 2020, 10:30 - 12:00

It's Groundhog Day!

But wait!  There's more!
For a limited time, act now because this year only:

It's Palindromic Groundhog Day!

A late-morning meetup, from 10:30 to NOON(ish). In the Worldgate lobby, between the Panera/*$ entrance and the movie theatre.

This is indeed a Quirky Crew event, but "Picky" went better with "Palindrome" and there weren't enough characters in the title to get all the words in palindromically.  The title was originally "02022020 Picky PalindromomordnilaP ykciP 20200202" - until I realized putting both versions of the date in made it no longer palindromic overall :/ so had to use just one.  Definitely wasn't space for two of both.  But I digress...

Bring family, friends, kidlets, caching buddies, visitors, neighbors.  Dad.  Mom.  Pop.  Your tot (regular or grand-).  And please, if you have an identical twin and they're willing to come, we'd love to meet your personal palindrome.

Bring puzzles, palindromes, and of course trackables to share and compare. I'll have at least one palindromic activity (word find or puzzle or such) available for the junior cachers and anyone else interested.

Get in the spirit and bring your (not live/real!) taco cat, ewe, or pup (no live animals in Worldgate other than service dogs) - a stuffie or a picture or other non-live critter is fine.  Show us your toy racecar or that level that you've used since college - or a picture/video of your real racecarRadar equipment.  Soda pop, if you call it that, especially if there's an unusual one you'd like to show us.  Tater tot.  A reasonable-sized rotor.  A vintage (rather than current) deed would be interesting to see, especially if you have a genealogy or history story to go with it.  A train that goes toot.  A small (not full-sized, please) kayak - or a picture of your real one and tell us about your adventures with it.

Bonus if you wear your clothes backwards.
Double bonus if you manage to wear your shoes backwards, or if you're dressed completely symmetrically (zippers down the front i/o buttons are a start ;) ), or if you dress AS a palindrome.
Triple bonus if today is your real, true, totally not pretend birthday.  And if so, if you LMK in advance I would like to recognize it at the event.
Super bonus if you recite something backwards and forwards (other than digits 0-9) (well, OK, even those).
And if your name or nickname is palindromic - Anna, Ava, Bob, Eve, Hannah, Nan, Otto, Pip, Viv, etc., this means you! - this is your day and we salute you.

By attending, you will earn GC's new "Fun in all directions" souvenir :)

No requirement to bring or buy food/drink; as you wish.  Naan, of course, would be apropos ;)  We'll be meeting in the lobby - close to the mirrors if we can, to make virtual human palindromes.

You can park out front and walk straight in, or you can park underground and take the escalator or elevator up. The underground parking is extra nice in lousy weather.

Fairfax Connector bus schedule

WINTER WARNING:
The event is in February in the DC area.  There could end up being horrible (snowy/icy) weather or road conditions the morning of the event.  Or it could be just warm enough for shorts (rare, but it has happened).  I don't live far from Worldgate and can probably get there barring a blizzard/ice storm, but it's not close enough for me to walk over in snow/ice.  So if the road/driving conditions are really bad on Groundhog Day morning, PLEASE check the cache page to see if the event is cancelled.

Specific coordinates within the lobby were chosen to help with the CCC 0-9 Coordinates Challenge.

Palindrome challenges this cache might help you to qualify for:
https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3AQPC_gold-log-palindrome-challenge, in California;
https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC46M55_palindrome-cache-name-challenge, in Iowa.

"UV light required" because it's midwinter and we all need more light, even UV light, this time of year.  Just not sunburns.
