Welcome to my Greek Mythology Series!
Artemis is the Greek Goddess of the Hunt, but is also associated with caring for and protecting wild animals, as well as women and young children. She is the twin sister of Apollo (you find find him nearby), and the daughter of Zeus and Leto. Her hunting companion Orion won her heart, but he was killed in a hunting accident. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus first built in 550BC is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Destroyed and rebuilt a couple of times, only foundations and fragments remain at the site today, in modern day Turkey.
