Geocache Description:

Doing this cache you will be faced with a few choices.

One: Pay the cable way ticket (Currently R300 return) and walk flat to the top of the gorge, then head down to the cache and retrace your steps back up and take the cable car back to the bottom.

Two: Pay the cable way ticket (Currently R200 one way) and walk flat to the top of the gorge, then head down to the cache and continue down to Tafelberg road from where you must make you way back to your vehicle.

Three: Walk from the bottom to the cache and continue past and do on or two caches at the top.  Remember checking for Labcaches if you do decide to do this, when done caching go down with the cable car. (R200)

Four: Walk from the bottom to the cache and continue past and do on or two caches at the top.  Remember checking for Labcaches if you do decide to do this, when done caching go down by the same way you came up. (Gratis)

Five:  Walk from the bottom to the cache and continue past and do on or two caches at the top.  Remember checking for Labcaches if you do decide to do this, when done caching go down by any path of your choice (to many to mention and number). (Gratis) Gratis, but remember you need to get back to your vehicle.

Six:  Do the cache dash, park at the foot of the gorge, dash for the cache, sign and date the cache, turn around and return to your car.

I can think of many other route options but I leave that choice to you.

Whatever choice you make it gonna be uphill at some point, except of course if you should go for choice number two, then it will be mostly downhill.   Nice on the knees and toes.  (hopefully you make the painless choice of not using your hands and face).

If you choose to make use of the cable car please consider that the attraction have been known to have ques of up to three hours of more.  It most definately could be faster to just go for it.

If you made the choice to walk all the way to the top, this cache is just about halfway there and in summer could provide some shade for a weary hiker or two. This is a good spot for a rest as you make your way to the top.  Getting here just mind the two or three Blister bushes who guards the spot.

Please do not damage the area in anyway and if you see any litter please pick it up and - lets keep our mountain clean.

As a note, please note that some inconsiderate people will use any nook and cranny to leave there litter etc, by all means make a note of it, but lets all undertake to do some CITO (cache in trash out), lets try and leave our mountain in a better shape than what we found it. We can moan, or we can all do something about it. Its your choice.

Sadly though, I would suggest you walk in a group of at least two or more, no matter where you are its never a good idea to walk alone. Also be sure not to leave any valuables visible in your car. Be sure you've closed all windows (unlike me) and lock your vehicle.

I use caching as an excuse to get out hiking more, I suggest you do the same. As much as we enjoy finding the cache and earning another smiley, don't forget to enjoy the journey, enjoy the walk there and take in the splendor of Table Mountain.
