Autorką rzeźby jest Ewelina Michalska.Rzeźba została wykonana w 1978 roku, a jej elementy powstały w Hucie Warszawa. Zanim rzeźba "Dzwony Kampinosu" trafiła przed jeden z wydziałów PW przez wiele lat zdobiła trawnik przed warszawską Zachętą. Inną rzeźbę tej autorki można obejrzeć np. na trawniku na przeciwko Cmentarza Prawosławnego przy ul. Wołskiej (pośród innych rzeźb powstałych w tzw. galerii samochodowej przy ulicy Kasprzaka jesienią 1968 roku, w ramach warszawskiego I Biennale Rzeźby w Metalu). Niestety po 20 latach obecności na ulicy Narbutta, 17 marca 2020 roku rzeźba została bezczelnie zdewastowana(ścięta palnikiem) na zlecenie jednej z pracownic sąsiedniej uczelni. Sprawczyni nie miała do tego prawa i zrobiła to wbrew woli dziekana wydziału, a jej wytłumaczeniem było to, że źle czuła się w towarzystwie rzeźby i że po prostu jej nie lubiła.

The author of the sculpture is Ewelina Michalska, it was made in 1978, and its elements were created at Huta Warszawa. Before the "Bells of Kampinos" sculpture hit one of the faculties of Warsaw University of Technology for many years, it decorated the lawn in front of Warsaw's Zachęta. Another sculpture by this author can be seen e.g. on the lawn in front of the Orthodox Cemetery at ul. Wołska (among other sculptures created in the so-called car gallery at Kasprzaka Street in autumn 1968, as part of the Warsaw 1st Biennale of Metal Sculpture). Unfortunately, after 20 years of presence on Narbutta Street, on March 17, 2020, the sculpture was brazenly devastated (cut with a burner) at the request of one of the employees of a neighboring university. The perpetrator did not have the right to do so and she did it against the will of the dean of the department, and her explanation was that she felt bad in the company of the sculpture and that she simply did not like her.
