Geocache Description:

Namibia is a heavenly place... actually a place where something from heaven came down. A large meteorite can be visited close to Grootfontein (there are also a caches). While planets don't usually come down to us on earth, this cache will lead you to a walking trail that takes you a bit closer to our planets. Hans Fritsche had this idea in 2005 - to build a planet-path from the scouts hall to the sea.

1 Mercury  ☿

2 Venus ♀

3 Earth ⊕

4 Mars ♂

5 Jupiter ♃

6 Saturn ♄

7 Uranus ♅

8 Neptune ♆

9 Pluto♇ (yes, when this was built Pluto was still considered a planet)

These planets line the walkway and are marked with concrete blocks that contain information. The walk is approximately 2km long, it is free of charge and you can start at this cache that is located in the railing by the info board. The cache is well hidden :-)

Nursery rhymes make it easy to remember the order of the planets: My Very Enthusiastic Mother Just Served Us Noodles or Mein Vater erklärt mir jeden Sonntag unsere neun Planeten (In German). Let us know if you know differet rhymes or what the rhyme is in your language.
