Skytower is a striking six-metre sculpture created by Rob Mulholland, which sits prominently on a Rawyards hilltop as the centrepiece of the community woodland created by the Forestry Commission Scotland.
It is constructed from thousands of small individual rods totalling more than 1400 metres of steel, involving 6000 individual welds – and has now won an architecture prize from the Galvanizers’ Association.
Pupils from nearby Clarkston and St Serf’s primary schools were involved in the design process in a series of classroom and outdoor sessions.
