2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event Cache

Welcome to the 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event! The Event is a one day, day time, family friendly event. The 2020 Spring Fling Event isn't about competition or prizes - it's about encouraging cachers to hide a few caches or a bunch and enjoy a day on the caching trail with friends.

The 2020 Spring Fling Event will be a short get together to share stories from the trail and plans for Spring. Come on out and join us to celebrate the hopeful coming of warmer weather.

There are THREE stages to the 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event:

1) The Hides;

2) The Hunt; and

3) The Gathering.

Phase 1: The Hides

Hide one or more caches between now and Monday, March 15th. The deadline is to ensure that our amazing reviewers have sufficient time to review and publish all the hides for the event. However, hiders are encouraged to place their caches for the event earlier than that to work out any issues that may arise.

NOTE: Every cache submitted for the 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event should include the following:

1. 2020SF at the end of the title (e.g. Big Tree - 2020SF) to facilitate searches by keyword;

2. A note to the reviewer stating that it is placed for the 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event and a request they be published the evening of Friday, March 20th;

3. A mention at the top of the cache page that the cache is for the 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event, with the intention that it not be sought out until after 8:00 am on Saturday, March 21st.

4. 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event caches are published the evening before to give everyone chance to look at the cache listings, solve puzzles and devise their battle plans before the hunt begins.

Rules about hides placed for the 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event:

All hides are totally acceptable within geocaching.com guidelines;

All hides must be hidden within 50 km of the Calgary Tower 9 Avenue and Centre Street South;

Hide caches you would enjoy finding yourself;

All hides must be made to remain permanent following the event for everyone to find at their leisure.

Phase 2: The Hunt

This cache has been placed for the 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event with the intention that it not be located prior to 8:00 am on Saturday, March 21st, 2020. The caches for this event are released early so that the geocaching community has an opportunity to plan their routes and strategies prior to the event start. Feel free to find as many or as few caches as you can and want. During the hunt, please document the time of find in the logbook. This makes things more interesting by informing subsequent finders how close they are on your tail.

Phase 3: The Gathering - The above coordinates are for the gathering.

An opportunity for all cachers participating in any part of the Event to get together and share stories from the trail. Hope to see you there!

1.When: Saturday, March 21st, 2020 - 5:00 p.m. through 5:30 p.m. at the Nose Hill Park Viewpoint.

2. The 2020 Calgary Spring Fling Event will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will last until 5:30 p.m. All cachers logging the event can sign the Event Logbook at the Nose Hill Park Viewpoint.

3. A group photo will be taken at 5:25 p.m. at the Nose Hill Park Viewpoint.

4. At 5:30 p.m. we will clean up the site and head back down to the trail head. Be sure to stay with the group on the way down to enjoy the terrific views and caching stories from the trail!
