Geocache Description:

4/5/20 container has disappeared...sorry. I don't know what happened but a geocacher let me know they thought the container was gone. I checked all around and couldn't find it so I tried to disable this on geocaching.com. No idea what happened to the cache. The first cache I've created! This is a small plastic container intially filled with some Funspot arcade tokens, dinosaurs, army men, a small log, and a pencil. It's located at an old abandoned silver mine in the Middlesex Fells. The mine was capped long ago so there's no dramatic mine entrance or cave or pit or anything, but there is a small hole in the concrete cap and if you drop a rock inside it takes a bit of time to hit the bottom. The shortest hike to it is pretty quick, but there's tons of hiking and biking trails in the Fells to enjoy, and a number of other caches. The official no leash dog park is not far, and there are several parking options around the edges of the Fells so you can approach this cache from many directions and use easier or harder trails to get close. Please note that often the electronic maps of this area don't always have correct labels on the trails and they don't always match up too closely to GPS apps, but they're pretty close. I believe at some point the Reservoir Trail (orange markers) went within feet of this spot but it was rerouted slightly so you will be leaving any marked trail for the final approach to the site.
