This will be my first geocache in a series of Whitman County geocaches focused on wildlife and nature. My career focuses on wildlife and while I travel often throughout the area, I find a lot of beautiful views and wildlife viewing areas. This is my way of encouraging others to find these beautiful sceneries and learn a little more about the area.
This geocache is located on public property belonging to the US Bureau of Land Management. There is a pull-off area along the gravel road off of the highway. When you turn onto the gravel road, and if it is a clear day, you will see a beautifully framed view of the Blue Mountains between the Palouse hills. This area also has frequent visits by local wildlife, such as migrating Mule Deer, a local Elk population, and often grassland birds and migratory waterfowl. I hope you enjoy this short reprieve from the drive as much as I do.
You are looking for a small tube wrapped in electrical tape. Beware there may be dangerous wildlife such as rattlesnakes.
