Built by the French in a Gothic revival style in the late 19th century, St Joseph cathedral is no Notre Dame de Paris but still draws crowds for various reasons including its legendary tra chanh stalls. Both a high end shopping and a backpacker's area, the surrounding streets deserve a stroll away from the noise of the cathedral square. Look up when approaching GZ, the alleys are narrow and offer a new angle on the cocepco of windows with a view. Try spotting the giant mural rat and for a quick bite, grab a seat beneath the banyan at 52 Ly Quoc Su for some fried goodness. Be discreet with the cache, muggles everywhere!
