Welcome to Newark's Riverfront Park! I hope you enjoy some time here at this unique park.
When I lived in Newark, this park had just opened, and later the iconic orange sticks appeared along with the orange boardwalk, boat launch and other benches and landscaping. It truly is a beautiful park, despite the fact that the river still needs to be cleaned. Hopefully that will be accomplished soon. I spent many days walking with friends and my dogs along this path. This particular part of the path is brand new and well lit, but I would suggest only caching here in the daytime.
Newark is still struggling to revive from the riots and economic changes in the 70s. It is really succeeding and the corner is well turned. There are many great restaurants, businesses, and beautiful, new housing options in the area. Besides all of that- you can't beat the commute to NYC!
Newark Riverfront Revival has a vision to bring all Newarkers to the river! They have worked hard over the years: planning boat and walking tours, hosting dozens of outreach events, organizing and designing educational programs for youth, and staging a City Hall exhibition. Other contributors to the park inclue Essex County, the City of Newark, The Trust for Public Land, Ironbound Community Corporation, Friends of Riverfront Park, Newark Community Economic Development Corporation (NCEDC) and other partners.
