SFT #5: Dam - Fine View!

The cache, a small camo-taped tablet pot, is the 5th of eight hidden on this anticlockwise 3m trail which goes around and through the vineyards of this historic farm (see Map in Gallery). Here towards the high point of the trail, there is a great view of the dam used to store irrigation water for the farm overlooked by Steenberg Ridge stretching from Constantiaberg to the east as far as Ou Kaapse Weg – the road pass through the Silvermine Nature Reserve.
Opening hours: 09:00 – 18:00 daily.
Note: the given coordinates are not for the cache but for the start of a small trail heading for the dam and cache location. To get the final coordinates, you will need to complete a short jigsaw puzzle accessed by clicking on the image of the agama lizard below . . .

From #4, continue up the jeep track as far as the given coordinates which are at the start of a small trail heading through the trees and across to the cache location at a rock outcrop overlooking the dam.
(Continued from #4) >>> He survived this incident and lived to father several children, but came to a sudden unfortunate end when he was killed by a lion some years later. According to legend, Catharina grabbed a gun, leapt on her horse and gave chase, hunting down and shooting dead the offending lion the very same day.

She married a 3rd time only to be widowed once more - this time her husband was killed by marauding tribesmen.
Her 4th husband went hunting hippopotamus at the nearby vlei (now known as Zeekoevlei) and was trampled to death by an elephant! (continues with #6) >>>
Many thanks to Farm Manager Johann de Swardt for kind permission to place the cache.
