Happy 20th birthday Geocaching!
Yes it's been 20 years since a U.S. government satellite policy change allowed for vastly more accurate GPS readings. The very next day, Dave Ulmer ventured into the Oregon woods, hid his bucket full of beans (among other things), and the rest is history.
On 8/3/2020 we'll gather in this lovely park to celebrate with a mix of activities befitting the history of geocaching. Come for the day, come for an hour...it's up to you! Here's a tentative schedule with approximate times:
3-4:30: CITO trash pick up. Bring gloves. Trashbags will be provided.
4:30-7:00 Potluck dinner. I'll plan to get the grill up an running, and I'll provide burgers, hotdogs, and buns for each type. Please bring a tasty dish or dessert to share (and indicate what you'll bring in your Will Attend log). We may just have some games and prizes as well (stay tuned).
In addition to all of the fun, by attending this event you will earn an electronic souvenir celebrating 20 years of geocaching and attending this event will count as a new cache type (Community Celebration, see below) for anyone who did not earn the Lost and Found Event cache back in 2010. Pretty exciting stuff!
