Ahhh, the mighty mary river... all 291km's of it from the furtherest reaches near Kenilworth in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland to where it joins the sea opposite K'gari (Fraser Island) at River Heads in the Widebay-Burnett Region. It's home to some amazing wildlife, including a turtle that breathes through it's bum and has a green mohawk, It's also home to my very first geocache hide and a couple of special beauties. Recently those caches were archived due to an overzealous farmer who wanted to claim the river as his own by putting a fence right across the waterway illegally, the fence has now been removed, and luckily, I never got a chance to remove the original caches so I think its a great time to host a celebration party and head up the Mary River with a kayak and find some caches! I'll have either the originals republished or un-archived if the reviewers allowed and get this party underway, lets start 2021 on the right foot! So bring your kayak, shoes, and sun protection, lets give the Mighty Mary a show!
This is a kayaking event but GZ is on the bank so those who wish to attend and say g'day on the banks of the Mary are welcome.. Kickoff will be at 7am to allow those who need to travel time to get there. it takes a couple of hours to go up, but only an hour or so back down thanks to water assistance...(rapids)
