SFT #8: Blue Thing
The cache is the last of eight hidden on this anticlockwise 3km trail which goes around and through the vineyards of this historic farm (see Map in Gallery). Opening hours are 09:00 – 18:00 daily.
Here you will be confronted by another sculpture (one of 17 within the Steenberg estate) called ‘Articulation of the Cones’ by Edoardo Villa.
Note: use the small short track down through the garden from S 34 4.491 E 18 25.338 to access GZ.

Having undergone a complete replanting programme after an extensive soil and microclimate analysis, the 60ha vineyard now has 70% white and 30% red vines and produces some 40,000 cases/year.
The vineyard benefits from its geographical position and ideal terroir with mild temperatures, cool breezes from the nearby sea, reliable winter rainfall, good exposure to sunlight, southern-eastern slopes @ 60-160m, and decomposed granite soils which help to hold water and provide a distinctive minerality to the wines.
Many thanks are due to Farm Manager Johann de Swardt, for kind permission to places caches on the farm estate.
