Geocache Description:

There are three caches, hidden at the same time, that can be found by walking a loop that is bit less than 3 miles long. You can choose to find this cache first, doing the loop in a clockwise direction. If so, you will go into the woods on a footpath right behind the parking OR you can walk back a ways on Colcord Pond Road until you can see the beginning of a defunct road with a black metal gate set way back. When I hid the caches, there was a better, snowshoed and packed path behind the parking area, less so up by the gate. But, in the summertime, hiking in at the gate might be wiser.  I chose to walk and hide the caches in a counterclockwise direction, so this cache would be the last one to be found. This cache is a bit off of the road/snowmobile trail. It heads closer to the steep hill and is a spot where folks once cut granite slabs. The cache is tucked under a big thick slab that has some chisel marks. You might want to explore looking for more chiseled slabs.

When I hid the caches there were moose prints, droppings, and chewed twigs between this cache and The Gate cache. Maybe you'll get lucky and see one. There were also lots of porcupine paths in the snow.

NOTE ABOUT LOCAL ROADS: The only drivable roads in the area are: Colcord Pond, Kennard Hill, Bickford Pond and Dana Weeks. The following roads are NOT PASSABLE: Devils Den, Moses Chapman, Moody, and Breakneck Hill. You will get stuck if you try any of these roads. So look at a map ahead of time.
