Did you know Leap Day only occurs in years divisible by 4? The last leap year was 2016. The next will be 2024. A leap day will not occur on a weekend again until Sunday 2032.
Hart Park in Newhall is your Leap Day event destination. The event will be held at a group of picnic tables located at Western Film Star William S. Hart's 1910 Ranch House, which also offers a self-guided museum inside. Bring your favorite camp chair if you'd like cushier seating. Parking and restrooms are conveniently located nearby. The area also offers hiking trails, caches inside the park as well as outside the park in nearby Old Town Newhall. Try your hand at our newly published Adventure Lab, two of five locations of which are within Hart Park.
Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy under the trees or visit one of the nearby eating establishments on Main Street in Newhall before or after. Hart Park is kid and (leashed) dog friendly. The Saugus Train Station is located in a portion of the park and contains a free museum open from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. as well as a Steam Engine outside. Up the hill from the Ranch House is the Hart Mansion, now a museum, offering free docent led tours on the hour at 11:00 am, Noon, 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, with the last tour at 3:00 pm.
